It is enough that Allaah knows

For the sacrifices met with indifference

For the pain and for all of the lows

For the patience and the endurance

It is enough that Allaah knows

For what could never be

And for what is yet to show

For the known deeds and the hidden

It is enough that Allaah knows

For the toil and for the torment

For the harm and for the blows

With all the hurt of the people

It is enough that Allaah knows

Beaten and bruised yet still protected

Struggling through the throes

The heart of the believer is gleaming

It is enough that Allaah knows

Severely tested are those whom He loves

In their faces, faith emits a glow

Trapped in the prison of this world

It is enough that Allaah knows

The truth will be known

And the falsehood shown

Until that time comes

It is enough that Allaah knows

NB: This is a poem of the endurance, patience and tawakkul of the believer through difficulties that he/she may face in this world. It is to show that if the believer excels in his deen and his righteousness but the people harm him, or do not show gratitude to him, or dismiss his efforts then it is enough that Allaah sees and hears all. It is enough that his deeds are sincere for Allaah and upon the sunnah and it is not a necessity that he will see his reward in this dunya. It is not a necessity that he experiences comfort in this world because in actuality the heart of the believer cannot be comfortable in this world. The Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم said ” الدنيا سجن المؤمن وجنة الكافر “- The dunya (worldly life) is a prison for the believer and a Jannah (paradise) for the disbeliever” {Sahih Muslim}

The believer knows the “pens have been lifted and the scrolls have dried” {40 Nawawi} so there is no grieving over the past and no worry for the future. He holds a good opinion of Allaah and relies on Him alone while striving and taking the means to attain success. It is as Sheikhul Islam Ibn Taymiyyah said: Trials and tribulations are like feeling the heat and cold, when one knows that they cannot be avoided, he will not feel anger at their onset, nor will he be distressed or disheartened. {Ibn al-Qayyim- Al-Madarij}

And Allaah knows best.
